Kathryn L. “Kate” Frazier, age 97, a long-time resident of Elwood, died Saturday May 12, 2012 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness. She was born June 24, 1914 in Darlington, Indiana the daughter of Charles S. and Minnie F. (Lowery) Cook. She was self-employed as a beautician for more than 30 years before retiring in 1960. Kate was a 1932 graduate of Elwood High School. She married William “Bill” Frazier November 22, 1961. Kate was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood and had formerly attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Elwood. She was a member of the Elwood Order of Eastern Star, a life-member of Sigma Alpha Chi Sorority, and enjoyed reading the Bible.

Survivors include 2 sons, Tommy J. and wife Nancy Haines of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jerry K. and wife Rosemary Haines of Fort Wayne; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Frazier who died September 1, 2008; 2 brothers, Andrew Cook and Patrick Cook; 3 sisters, Marietta Wittkamper, Zola Mae Barrum, Frances Wright; and grandson, Patrick Haines.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Elwood City Cemetery with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to East Main Street Christian Church through the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.copherfeslermay.com.
