Eric R. Carpenter, age 33 of Frankton, died Wednesday July 18, 2012 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis after a very sudden illness. He was born on July 14, 1979 in Elwood. His biological father is Ralph Carpenter of Alexandria, and his mother and father are Linda (Croy) and Stephen Alvey of Frankton. He worked as an installer for the Tropical Windows Company in Florida for several years. He graduated in the top of his class in 1998 from Elwood Community High School. He was baptized in the Methodist Church. Eric was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame Football fan. He enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, fishing in Florida, and working on his computer. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his young nephews. Eric was a very happy individual and was a friend to everyone he met.
Survivors include his parents; 7 siblings, Bill (Rae Ann) Cress of Frankton, Julie Corbett of Logansport, Brook (Joe) Gazdun of Florida, Josh (Jill) Alvey of Frankton, Robert Carpenter of Georgia, Jeff Carpenter of Elwood, and Marianne (Carpenter) Tipton of Elwood; grandparent, Nancy Alvey of Florida; aunts and uncles, Robert (Kelly) Croy, Kenneth (Melinda) Croy, David (Wanda) Croy, Nick (Terri) Croy, Patricia Helpling, Deb (Dave) Smith, Kathy (Larry) Massey, Stan (Becky) Alvey, Leann (Darryl) Napper, Nancy (Steve) Hudson, Ed (Elizabeth) Alvey, Carol (Monte) Kleyla, and Virginia Carpenter; and several beloved nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tina M. (Alvey) Davis; 3 brothers, David Carpenter, Mark Carpenter, and Robert Cress; maternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Croy; grandfather, Morris Alvey; uncle, John Croy; nephew, Christopher Corbett; and niece Elura Gazdun.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, July 21, 2012 prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
